Barnett Riley Cemetery Rockcastle County Kentucky
Cemetery General Information
Barnett Riley Cemetery Location
- Start at the intersection of Hummel Road and Route #25. Go on #25 .5 mile to gravel road on right. Turn right and go east up gravel road past KOA Campground. At the eastern edge of the campground bear north on ghost road of old county road from Renfro Valley to Wildie. Follow the road northwood past old William Willis Coffey house and barn on left. Bear east and then north with the old road. When you have traveled about 1 mile from #25 there is a ghost road on right that goes about 500′ and ends at the old Medical Springs School (still standing). Do not go to the school but continue on toward Wildie. About 400′ from the school road on the right is the cemetery, about 20′ from the road. IT IS NECESSARY TO RIDE IN ON HORSEBACK – A 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE PROBABLY COULD NOT MAKE IT.
- NOTE: There are 2 adult graves with big, dressed field stone markers and a baby with a field stone marker. There may be other graves at this site. The name Rily/Reily may also have been spelled RALEIGH. Information contributed by Janie Lydia Ramsey and from 1880 Rockcastle County KY census:
