Bullock Family Cemetery

  • LOCATION: Start in Mt. Vernon, KY, at the intersection of routes #150 and #1249. Go south on #1249 8.5 miles to Pitman Hill Road (first road on right after crossing the bridge over West Fork of Skeggs Creek). Go up Pitman Hill Road 1.2 miles to cemetery on left. Located at Kinkaid Ridge. Raspberry Cemetery is the neighbor to this Cemetery.
  • The Cemetery was at one time part of the Bullock Estate. The cemetery was lotted off to create a cemetery for the family line to be buried in.

Buford Hill Cemetery

  • Buford Hill Cemetery LOCATION: Start at the intersection of Route #25 and Hummel Road (north end of Renfro Valley shops). Go east on Hummel Road 1.5 miles to road on right. Turn right, cross bridge (at decision point .1 mile from Hummel Road bear right). Continue a total of 1.1 miles from Hummel Road to farm road on right. Turn right and go about .2 mile on farm road to acemetery near top of the hill and very close to I-75 northbound. On the farm road you will pass a log cabin, a house, out buildings and a barn. Don’t give up. If the ground is wet, a 4-wheel drive vehicle will be necessary.
  • NOTE: Because of deed description, it is known Thomas Jefferson Buford is buried here. Margaret Fish furnished info on Rebecca Buford and William Buford being buried here in unmarked graves. Mable Johnson Reppert regarding Revolutionary War service for William Buford

Bill Bryant Cemetery

  • Bill Ace Bryant Cemetery LOCATION: Start in Renfro Valley, KY at the south end of the Route #25 bridge over Renfro Creek. Go south on #25 1.1 miles to paved road on left. Turn left and go up hill about 150′ to bend in the road. Park yourcar. Walk south straight up the hill on tractor road about 300′ to top of the hill. The cemetery had high grass and saplings.
  • NOTE: Additional information contributed by Craig Harrison and Rockcastle census and court records. Ace Bryant father of Bill Ace Bryant may be Asa Bryant who is show in 1900 census as being born July 1849; he married on 19 Jul 1877 to Mary A. Todd who is shown in 1900 census to have been born February 1867. She may also be buried here.
  • There is evidence that this family plot was once cared for. Iris still survive and big trees are standing outside the cemetery. It is said that 12 – 14 people, children and adults, are buried here. All are Bryants.

  • Belcher Cemetery LOCATION: Start at intersection of Route #150 and Copper Creek-Conway Road (in Lincoln County, KY, just west of Rockcastle County line). Go northeast on Copper Creek-Conway Road 4.5 miles to cemetery on right. Park your car. Walk thru farm lot, beside a garden to cemetery on a knoll under a black walnut tree (about 700′ from road.) The cemetery is fenced. There is no gate so climb the wire fence next to a post so you don’t damage the fence.

Begley Cemetery

  • Begley Cemetery LOCATION: Start on Route #25 just south of Livingston, KY at the ford thru the Rockcastle River. WHEN IT IS LOW. (If you want to visit this cemetery when the river is high, you go in from Hazel Patch in Laurel County). Follow old road about 3.3 miles to cemetery on the right. The road is what remains of the Wilderness Trace. The cemetery is near the stone marker that memorializes the Battle of Wildcat Mountain. If no horses or mules are available, a dune buggy is mandatory.
  • NOTE: Alpha Omega Robinson was “The First Interred in this Cemetery”. The Begley graves are within a fenced area. “Old Man Inman” said to have died in the early 1930’s.

  • Barns Cemetery LOCATION: Start in Mount Vernon, KY at intersection of Route#150 and Route #25. Go south on #25 .8 mile to road on right. Turn right and go about 200′ to gravel road. Take gravel road to top of hill to cemetery.
  • NOTE: Edd Taylor, John Taylor, Martha A. Taylor and Raymond Taylor are all members of the same family that died of TB approximately the same time in the 1930’s. Appear to be graves of children.
