  • Vaughn Cemetery LOCATION: YOU MUST HAVE A HIGH-OFF-THE GROUND 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE. Start in Mt. Vernon, KY at the intersection of Route #150 and Route #25. Go southward on #25 5.0 miles to dirt road on left. Turn left onto the remains of Flat Rock Road. Go about .9 mile where you will pass the Allen Cemetery on your right. Continue 1.7 miles and park. The cemetery is on the left side about 50′ from the road. There are iris planted beside the graves. WATCH FOR SNAKES. The underbrush is moderate but sheltering for critters.

  • NOTE: The name of John Vaughn has also been reported to be Whiskers Bond or Whiskey Bond. Richard Anderson Mullins said that he knew “Whiskers” Vaughn and his name was John “Whiskers” Vaughn. (John Vaughn married Priscilla Lawson 11-5-1915, Book 52, Rockcastle County, KY Marriage Records)
